(Image arrays, PID algorithms)- Calculating and setting technical requirements for the new instrument based on scientific objective provided. - Building an advanced Excel computer model to help perform laser-based calibration tests.- Help to design and perform a series of tests in a 100k class clean room environment using class 3R lasers.- Developed a new Co2 laser-based manufacturing procedure for the creation of ultra-high-resolution masks requiring sub-20-micron cutting accuracy. - NASA ESD Workmanship certified.
Lead and grew a team of 6 part-time team members and contractors and lead product development of our three generations of high altitude balloon payload platforms utilising satellite connectivity. Our systems were designed to operate for extended periods at 100,000 ft, -75 C, and at 10 millibars of pressure whilst conforming to FAA and CAA aviation regulatory requirements.Previous payloads that we designed and built for clients include:- Optical testing platform to test a new type of VR camera destined for use on a commercial 3U Cubesat.- Extreme biological testing on a range of plant samples this later went on to be featured at a TEDx Talk- The successful development of a custom GoPro 4 cooling system to prevent overheating at 10 minibar pressures due to the stock design relying on convection for cooling.- Ensured reliable telemetry links between the ground and our main payload and helped to test a range of new ultralight 433 Mhz UHF radio tracking systems developed by Southampton University. - Formed a partnership with Made In Space to test a mechanical sample of their product in near space.
