I am also the team captain of the martial arts varsity sports team at Bryan College, where I have developed strong leadership skills and learned the importance of time management to balance my studies with my athletic commitments. I am committed to academic excellence and am eager to apply my skills and experience to a future career in the engineering field, specifically in the area of hydroelectric energy generation.Work Experience As a lifeguard at the YMCA for 4 years, I gained valuable experience in customer service and teamwork. I was responsible for ensuring the safety of all swimmers, but I also had to be friendly and approachable to answer any questions or concerns they may have had. Working with a team was also crucial in this role, as we had to coordinate and communicate to make sure the pool area was safe and clean at all times.Later on, I took on the role of lifeguard manager with Continental Pools, where I supervised a team of 4 lifeguards. In this role, I honed my leadership and communication skills by liaising with my supervisors to ensure the pool met all safety standards and discussing the needs of my team. I also organized opening and closing duties, oversaw staff scheduling, and conducted regular training sessions to ensure all lifeguards were equipped to handle any emergency situations that arose. Through these experiences, I developed a strong work ethic and a keen eye for detail that I apply to all aspects of my work.Mechanical Engineering Projects:Project 1. Cam Manufacturing: Designed and manufactured a cam to specific deflection requirements using SOLIDWORKS and CNC machining. Analyzed results and gained valuable experience in design for manufacturing and problem-solving.Project 2. Rope Climbing Robot: Led team to design and construct a robot that climbed a rope with a 1lb weight in 25 seconds, winning a competition. Managed budget, time, and team coordination. Developed skills in design, prototyping, and testing, as well as leadership and problem-solving.
