CurrentSecond Best was founded in 2017 by Samuel Monaghan. Rooted in a background of Industrial Design, the brand draws its ethos from the subculture surrounding hardcore punk.The process is very much real-time, leaving a trail of breadcrumbs between projects - constantly taking photos, collecting stuff, making scans and using wordplay to inform wearable and non-wearable outcomes. More often than not, the inspiration comes from the duality of the light and dark in life. The clothing is a mixture of cut and sew, graphics and hand dyed/painted reworked pieces. The idea behind the name is that Second Best is never finished and that reaching a false idea of perfection leaves nowhere else to go.
