Sam is originally from St. Augustine, Florida, where he earned his BA in Theatre Arts from Flagler College in 2010. While attending Flagler, Sam worked as both a federal work study during the school year and as a full-time financial assistant during the summer months in the Financial Aid office. He also served 2 years as Vice President of Alpha Psi Omega, a national theatre arts honors society.A week after graduating, Sam left the only world he knew and took a chance moving up to Chicago, Illinois. Once there, he secured a full time position as a Financial Services Advisor at Robert Morris University. For the next 7 years, Sam would dedicate his time in assisting hundreds of students and families in finding financial opportunities to get their students to graduation day with the least amount of student loan debt as possible. These students were primarily low income, first-generation students, who only wanted to better their own lives and the lives of their families. In 2017, Sam was offered the opportunity to work at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, which he most happily accepted. Currently serving as Assistant Director of Graduate Student Funding, Sam is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of The Graduate School.Sam is a member and Treasurer of the Northwestern Staff Advisory Council (NUSAC), Staff Outreach Co-Chair of the Out Network, staff adviser for WAVE Productions, Safety & Wellness Warden on the TGS Safety & Wellness committee, and former UHAS sanctioning panel member. Sam graduated with an MS in Higher Education Administration & Policy from Northwestern in June 2022.In his free time, Sam enjoys acting, performing stand-up comedy, writing plays and books, hosting dinner parties and tv/movie/game nights with friends, trivia, and travelling.
