Following the pre-medicine track, I have recently graduated at the University of California in Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology - Immunology.Peers have described me as a quick learner and a diligent, fastidious worker. While I am enthusiastic about learning in a competitive academic atmosphere, I am also highly motivated by opportunities for community service, which spark my interest in healthcare. I strongly believe that social service cultivates lasting one-on-one relationships that not only expand our networking but also establish the foundation for communal interdependence. For the past year, I have been involved in RockMedicine, an SF Bay Area organization that is currently partnered with HealthRIGHT 360. As an Emergency Medical Technician volunteer, I address immediate health concerns for patrons at concerts/events, and I assist nurses in the clinic with my knowledge of BLS care when I am not dispatched on a field team. Additionally, I have recently been hired to work for ScribeAmerica at a John Muir Health outpatient clinic. As a medical scribe, I assist a Family Medicine physician with documentation during the patient interview and examination. I currently chart 15+ patient histories per day, and I pend orders for prescription drugs, specialist referrals, labs, and imaging based on the physician's directive. Both of these local experiences have enhanced my interest in the field of medicine, but I am currently seeking a short-term opportunity to volunteer abroad as an EMT. Given my volunteering track record, I want to help out in any way I can, especially in communities where care is limited or difficult to obtain. I would be glad to discover any opportunities, listen to advice, and hear different perspectives, so please feel free to contact me at spajuleras27@berkeley.edu.
