Country Desk Officer
Current- Serves as a subject matter expert and resource to internal and external stakeholders for countries within portfolios; is knowledgeable about all facets of current programs as well as program factors.
- Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of political, social, and economic trends and keep leadership informed of difficult and/or controversial issues and unique problems impacting or involving assigned posts and.
- Reviews, analyzes, interprets, and ensures the timely completion of tasks including Program Plan process, Ops Plan and budget review, annual data review, region specific reports, and other requests for support from.
- Supports travel logistics for TDY and new USDH staff – Travel Authorizations, itineraries, Electronic Country Clearances (ECCs) for US Embassies, briefings, Travel Vouchers, visas, TDY guides
- Develops and presents briefings to high level staff including agency leadership that enables staff to make high-level, well-informed decisions. Serves as Post advocate and representative on presenting its issues.
- Trains new CDOs and acts as a mentor for them. Fosters an environment of collaborative learning by consistently providing support and answering questions.
