Hello, I’m Samuel, a Data science guy based in Lisbon with a background in both Electrical and computation Engineering and applied mathematics. With over 5 years of experience, my career has evolved from pure Electrical Engineering into a Data Science focus.Beyond the technical aspects, what I find more interesting in my area is the storytelling element. The idea of retrieving the right information and constructing a compelling narrative based on it is the beauty of the job. Leading non-technical stakeholders to understand the findings is a rewarding part of my work.About my journey so far:I kicked off my professional journey as an Electrical Engineer at the Portuguese TSO (REN) following the completion of my master’s degree and thesis in cooperation with the local DSO (EDP). Shortly after I discovered my passion for Data Science, leading me to apply modeling and computer vision algorithms to tackle challenges of the electrical grid management. During this period, I returned to academia to pursue a second master’s degree, this time in applied mathematics with a major in probability and statistics.My journey continued at NOS, where I delved into end-to-end data science projects within the marketing/CRM domain. This experience allowed me to work with cutting-edge technologies like Spark for distributed computing and PyTorch for Neural Networks development. I not only embraced a hands-on role but also contributed to process improvements by implementing a new Kanban methodology. I took charge of project releases from scratch, covering all stages from planning and refining stories to estimating efforts (kind of a technical PO).Now, I’m embarking on a new adventure, bringing my knowhow to a pharmaceutical company.
