My role as production assistant required me to work in all departments within an Offset Lithography Printing company. Primarily my role is to manage production, assisting in the smooth running of the production chain from origination to delivery of the final product. I also work on estimating job costs and quoting for potential and existing clients, administrative duties including invoicing, cataloguing, and artworking.Administrative duties includes processing sales and supplier invoices, using Sage accounting software, organisation of physical file copies and digital data back-ups.Estimating required an in depth knowledge of Tharsten software, which was used also in the production line of booking in jobs, processing requisitions and control of stock levels and goods in. It also required checking the accuracy and viability of the product specification.Origination required a high level of attention to detail, proofing artwork and colour matching. It required me to use CS6 programmes Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign, Adobe Acrobat Pro utilising Kodak Prinergy Evo to refine files, and Preps 6 imposing software.Reprographic duties involved CTP plate setting, producing Fuji Pro T3 Digital Thermal plates using a Kodak Creo Trendsetter.The job required regular communication with the minder and press room, organising and monitoring the flow of printed materials within the company. Also liaising with finishers, distributors and clients to ensure product specifications are adhered to, quality of the finished product is closely monitored and ensuring deadlines are met.A degree of finishing experience was also required, both in creation of the final product and also to aptly brief any outsourced finishers to allow adequate time whilst scheduling production.

During this placement I illustrated several designs for silk scarves to be pitched to Liberty's department store as well as other high end fashion outlets. I also designed for other garments and updated their website.

Duties included managing the running of the venue on a daily basis, managing staff, stock control/ordering, liaising with live acts/DJs, banking, budgeting, enforcement of health and safety regulations.
