Things have a funny way of working out. After high school I was unsure of what I wanted to study, nothing seemed right for me, I wasn’t like some students who automatically knew what they wanted to do. I went on to attended Northern Illinois University and changed majors a few times but settled on Psychology because I thought it was interesting. In 2012 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. So naturally I took a job in banking! After a few of years on the job I decided to go to graduate school. I considered continuing with Psychology but ultimately ended up deciding to pursue an MBA. One of the first classes I needed to take was a basic computer class. Our final project was to make a website using HTML. It was my first taste of coding and I absolutely loved it. I was so proud of that website and had so much fun making it that my plans of an MBA were thrown out the window and I registered for Intro to Programming in C++ the next semester. Fast forward a few years to my final semester of Computer Science at NIU, I was lucky enough to be an inaugural member of Discover's Campus Innovator program. While interning with Discover I worked on an agile team with other interns and helped develop a talent acquisition web app. After graduating I accepted a position at Discover and am now a part of a team working on Discover's mobile app.
