Responsible for development, procurement, and deployment of fare systems with contract values in excess of $200m including: systemwide faregate upgrade from clamshell barriers to swing doors to deter fare evasion which lowered fare evasion by 82% and generated $25m in new revenues; the next generation farebox replacement for WMATA and regional partners; and upgrading exit fare machines to accepting credit cards at every station mezzanine. These projects require leadership and coordination across the agency and region with Systems (Rail) and Bus Maintenance, Automated Fare Collection Engineering, Safety, Risk Management, IT, IT Cybersecurity, and with our contracted partners at Cubic, STraffic, Genfare, Clever Devices, etc. Other efforts include software and hardware development and production for a driver control unit (DCU) for upgrading antiquated hardware in regional legacy farebox systems. Managed contract for regional software maintenance services (RSMS) for tech support, including Oracle 19c and Windows 7 to Windows 10 upgrades. Duties include managing procurements, grant writing, and document and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

Scheib enlisted and served in the infantry for two years that included a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. Port visits there sparked a lust for learning and travel that has never dimmed. Scheib was selected for Marine Security Guard School in 1994, was the honor graduate there with the school’s highest ever GPA. Went on to successful posts in Seoul, Korea, and Budapest, Hungary, before being hand-picked to help open a new detachment in Minsk, Belarus, one of the then new states from the former Soviet Union. Promoted to corporal and sergeant ahead of his contemporaries and honorably discharged.
