The world is as economically advanced and technologically connected as ever, yet we have never felt more ALONE. Permeating our society is a poverty of loneliness. It is felt in our schools, workplaces, in our own families, and especially amongst those on the fringes of society, the homeless. How do we respond to this hidden epidemic?I am passionate about encountering this poverty of loneliness and inviting others to consider God’s call to know, love, and serve the poor. As Director of Homeless Outreach at Christ in the City, my job is to organize and train staff and volunteers to encounter the homeless through the power of friendship.I love bringing my technical, detail-oriented background in engineering to a relational, person-centered mission - creating a work environment that is both free and spontaneous while also being thoughtful and organized.I’ve had the opportunity to train thousands of volunteers to walk with the homeless throughout the United States (and Ireland), and equipped 300+ staff and volunteers to teach and guide others in the same way. My love for teaching and public speaking has come alive in developing content for 50+ presentations ranging in topics like conflict management, boundaries and safety, communication skills in the workplace, attunement and spiritual accompaniment, large group strategic brainstorming, discernment, leadership, and more.My specialties are organization and people, overseeing 15 teams every year in daily ministry operations, facilitating healthy team dynamics, and leading strategic planning which has led to a creative and growing mission in two major cities (Denver and Philadelphia).I still love to be on the front lines, conducting a weekly lunch that serves 150-300 meals every week. God has blessed me with a diverse background with studies in engineering, philosophy, theology, and pastoral care and counseling. I have experience in biomedical research, leading retreats, hospital chaplaincy, young adult ministry, cooking, and my favorite of all, being a husband and father.
