Approaching a problem as complex as homelessness requires an ample amount of strategy and organization, as well as a person-centered approach. My job is to oversee all operations of our homeless ministry as well as network with other supportive resources in Denver.Train thousands of volunteers including groups from schools, businesses, churches, and city workers to serve the poor and adopt the unique vision of Christ in the City.Developed a 10-hour workshop in communication, empathy and conflict resolution that has been used annually as a reference for workplace culture.Mentor 15 teams annually (around 60 people), navigating team dynamics and guiding team strategies. This has led to healthy teams that are able to function in emotionally taxing environments over the long term.Oversee mission operations in two locations, Denver and Philadelphia, mentoring the on-site coordinators in tracking budgets, strategic planning and staff onboarding.Collaborate with the communication team to develop content for our podcast, 5 promotional videos, a documentary, and themes for annual fundraising campaigns. This has led to a growing presence on social media platforms and has attracted other similar organizations to reach out and learn from us.Facilitated 40-person brainstorming sessions over the course of a month that resulted in larger numbers at public functions, unity in workplace and empowered individuals to be creative and take ownership of their ideas.Conduct a weekly lunch that serves 150-300 meals. This lunch not only feeds the hungry but brings together various Denver communities in fellowship.Lead the security team at our public functions with skills in safety, de-escalation techniques, situational awareness and personal boundaries which has led to a calmer and safer environment for our staff.I truly play the middleman between the logistics and administration of running a program, and the spiritual and human formation of missionary staff and volunteers.

Holy Name Parish is a mountain town church with a tight-knit community that shares a love for God and the great outdoors. It is the home of many young families as well as seasonal workers. I look back fondly on my time with Holy Name because I was able to integrate my desire for making a positive impact on others with my love for adventure in the outdoors. Some of my favorite memories include:-Leading studies, socials, and formation sessions for the young adult community, often involving skiing!-Mentorship and accompaniment with students who were particularly struggling in school or family life.-Organizing excursions such as the moonlit snowshoe hike in the mountains.-Strategic planning meetings for the parish as a whole which involved pinpointing the church's goals and becoming confident in the 'why' behind the mission.

While studying in the seminary I had the opportunity to help on staff in two churches, St. Bernard in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Saints Faith Hope and Charity in Winnetka, Illinois. My involvement included preaching at Masses, teaching classes in middle school and high school, helping run the youth and young adult programs, and participating in strategic planning meetings. It was in these communities that I began to put into practice skills of leadership and mentoring, public speaking, and attunement to others.

I helped start this ministry that focused on leadings local mission trips to reach out to members in the community who were in need of help or human connection. The week-long missions consisted of manual labor such as cleaning and yard work, praying with individuals and getting to know the families we served, and then a retreat component in the evenings for our volunteers. This work planted the seed for my desire to serve others in a way that is personal, communal, and organized.
