About Samuel Sternberg

I am an Associate Professor at Columbia University, Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a protein–nucleic acid biochemist, CRISPR–Cas and genome engineering expert, and co-author of A Crack in Creation. My research focuses on investigating bacterial immune systems known as CRISPR–Cas, and harnessing these systems for biotechnology applications ranging from viral RNA diagnostics to precision DNA editing. I have extensive experience in a wide range of molecular biology, biochemical, and biophysical techniques, a strong publication record, a proven track record of generating novel intellectual property, and significant public speaking experience. If you are interested in learning more about my lab, inquiring about positions, or chatting science/CRISPR, please message me!
