About Samuel Strom, Phd Facmg

With over 10 years of experience in the field of clinical molecular genetics, I am a principal scientist at Illumina, a global leader in genomics. I am also a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMG), a prestigious credential that demonstrates my expertise and proficiency in this rapidly evolving discipline. My mission is to improve and implement whole genome sequencing for various medical applications, such as cardiovascular disease, rare and undiagnosed genetic disorders, hereditary cancer, Parkinson's disease, prenatal, carrier screening, newborn screening, and more. I focus on two main areas of interest: clinical genomic interpretation and development of improved bioinformatics to call challenging medically relevant variants. I have contributed to multiple publications in high-impact journals, such as Science, Molecular Psychiatry, and PLoS ONE, showcasing my research and analytical skills.
