OpenTutor is an innovative chatbot platform designed to assist students in online courses by fetching real-time course data from MOOC platforms and providing personalized support and at the same time maintaining the academic Integrity of these courses.- Collaborated with a team of five Milstein Scholars to develop and deploy a chatbot using ChatGPT and NLP models to provide real-time assistance on course materials.- Utilized AWS for scalable hosting and integration of NLP models, ensuring seamless performance under varying user loads.- Integrated MOOC APIs to dynamically fetch and update course content, enhancing user engagement and interaction quality.- Partnered with eCornell to pilot OpenTutor on their online courses, gathering valuable user feedback for ongoing enhancements.Github: https://github.com/sam-shridhar1950f/openta-py

• Selected as part of the Nexus Scholars summer program at Cornell University to work on a research project with a faculty mentor• Worked under the guidance of Professor William Lai, to develop a machine learning model that predicts the relationship between motif sequences and protein domain families using high-resolution chromatin binding profiles.• Wrote python scripts to preprocess 1,500+ chromatin data using Pandas and NumPy and analyze large datasets.• Trained and tuned DNN, CNN to DNN, and LSTM to DNN models.• Developed a method utilizing paramiko to connect the lab’s newly built Gene regulatory network website (link) to a virtual machine, significantly optimizing data retrieval times by 70%.• Presented research findings to nexus program directors and donors, professors, and fellow nexus scholars
