"There's no substitute for guts." - Paul "Bear" Bryant. Right before my senior season of high school football, I was offered a spot on the football team at Miami University as an offensive lineman despite never having played the position before. Even though I would get knocked down everyday and wouldn't have a clue of what was going on, I would constantly try my hardest to learn from my mistakes and grow from them. Even though at times I felt like I was in way over my head, I knew that this is where I needed to be. Two MAC Championships later, I am glad I made this decision. This same "growing" mindset translated into the classroom for me and will hopefully translate into my future employment. There is nothing wrong with getting in over your head or failing at something; the growth from these experiences is what shapes us into who we are. I have promised myself to never back away from any opportunity to improve as a person no matter how daunting it may be. Because at the end of the day, there really is no substitute for guts.
