My desire to become a marine scientist started many years ago. I remember seeing a shark in person for the first time. From then on, I was hooked. Throughout grade school, I took many classes at my local aquarium to learn more and gain experience. Everything I learned drove me to continue to learn more. Eventually, I learned about the great peril of our ocean, and its inhabitants. I want to help protect the ocean. So, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to study Marine biology and research at Nova Southeastern University. My end goal is to become a field researcher. I believe that more knowledgeable the scientific community is about marine life, the better prepared we are to protect it and educate others about it. The best way to protect something is to get as many people behind it as possible. Education can help with that. People tend to fear the unknown. People can’t support a cause they don’t fully understand. I hope to contribute to the protection of marine life, supported by a passionate public. In short, I want to make the world better.
