Served multiple roles in my time at Oteemo as both a customer facing consultant and an internal technologist helping to grow our technical services portfolio. I enjoyed this role because I wore many hats from Technical Sales Engineer to technical writer on multiple customer and federal government proposal responses. Through it all, I got to maintain a high degree of hands-on technical work and cutting edge problem solving. I truly appreciated getting to work at Oteemo at a time when I really wanted to focus on Kubernetes and helping bring that technology to other companies. Mission accomplished!

Worked on multiple modernization efforts aimed at utilizing new technologies to sustain our major platforms. Initiatives included converting small parts of the architecture to micro-services, and investigating new technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. In order to promote knowledge and enthusiasm in new tech I gave two 4-hour courses to colleagues where we worked through migrating an application to a docker container showcasing the potential improvements in deployment and maintenance we could gain.

Responsible for the design, development and operational management of the company's core web and iPad applications. Both the web application and the iPad app are developed in JavaScript using cross-platform frameworks like AngularJS and Ionic. The focus for both applications has been on highly tested code and the ability to deploy on demand via cloud-based continuous delivery services.

Joined Blackboard to gain more experience on an operations team after years working as a developer. This experience exposed me to a variety of great tools like Chef, Sensu and VMWare. It was valuable to work with an experienced operations team figuring out the best ways to triage help issues while upgrading technology to support development and testing teams. I was also responsible for the management of 3 operations engineers.

Various roles as a Java developer, team lead and expert in continuous delivery migration. One of my most successful projects was helping a client transition from a difficult build system to full continuous delivery including buy-in from the operations team.

Worked on a diverse array of projects. Started by developing XML specs for various web service standards. Next, worked on a next generation platform for sensor coordination using automated planning engines. Lastly, worked as the technical lead/architect on a Java project creating a platform for military logistical planning.

Responsible for creating a next-generation architecture for a legacy news gathering system. Developed a Java-based architecture with web services, Spring framework and extensive unit testing. Discovered Jenkins and continuous integration and have been using CI on all projects ever since. This job helped me fall in love with discovering and utilizing new technologies.

Began as a Java developer but quickly transitioned into a team lead and then project lead based on my ability to quickly learn and architect new systems. Worked primarily with server-side Java code and Oracle databases.
