My role involves maximizing the success that users have with Seequent products, starting with my last product, DRIVER, which was recently acquired from Minerva Intelligence Inc.

Vancouver, Canada Area

My role at Minerva is to evaluate how different problems across the mining value chain can be solved with software solutions. My primary product right now is called DRIVER (https://driver.rocks), and it's a platform that uses a novel set of algorithms to tackle the problem of 3D modeling complex datasets.A wide variety of geoscientists use DRIVER, from resource modelers and exploration geologists, to mining geos and geometallurgists. The DRIVER platform allows these geoscientists to automatically determine the optimal directional continuity for any number of elements or variables in a matter of minutes. This allows them to work through a 3D modelling workflow and produce accurate 3D models of each element in their dataset.

My project as an MSc student with the Mineral Deposit Research Unit at UBC was part of the Carbonate Alteration Footprints Project, and I looked at cryptic alteration haloes in carbonate rocks around the Iscaycruz mine in Central Peru.

Greater Chicago Area

Conducted Phase I/II environmental site assessments, groundwater monitoring (sampling, statistical analysis, report writing/submission), soil investigations (sampling, computer modeling, report writing), proposal writing, FOIA requests, remediation and construction observation/supervision, and expert witness support. Software utilized: Aqtesolv, Chempoint, Chemstat, gINT Professional, ProUCL, Sanitas, See Snake, SurferEquipment utilized: Flame Ionization Detector, Groundwater monitoring equipment, Gem 2000 gas meter, Handheld GPS, Photo Ionization Detector, Turbidimeter, YSI Pro Plus/556, Portable XRF,Completed 40 hour HAZWOPER Training (29 CFR Part 1910.120), OSHA 10-hour Construction (OSHA 29 CFR 1926), and CN Contractor Safety Training.

Nicaragua

Gold Exploration project in Nicaragua.Conducted mapping and sampling of project area and explored for new deposits. Constructed regional and local maps using ArcGIS 10 software. Supervised 4 field crews for sampling, road construction, drill pad construction, community relations programs and other logistics.Managed the Terraspec Spectral Mineral Analysis program for Los Andes and Los Andes Regional Projects.Coordinated the ProMark 100 differential GPS program, including management of the GPS database, device care, employee training and construction of benchmarksOrganized project logistics including equipment acquisitions, administrative employee training, hiring new employees, laboratory submittals and management of assay results.Supervised the core drilling program which consisted of split sampling, geotechnical data logging, cutting/logging of drill core, creation of cross sections, management of drill logs and drill hole database as well as correspondence and negotiation between the drilling company and the project.

Assisted a PhD candidate with his research on the change in glacial cycles over the past 2 million years by preparing samples from the Baffin Island area for cosmogenic radionuclide dating.Used a rock crusher and disc mill to prepare samples to the correct grain size.Performed sequential chemistry operations to separate quartz from feldspar including density separation, hydrofluoric acid dissolution, solid HF, and quartz fusion techniques.Performed centrifugal separation on fusion remnants, perchloric acid precipitation, and final preparation and sample packing.Completed Hazardous Materials Safety and Waste Generation Training

•Logging Reverse Circulation Drill (RC) rock chips and core sections into Newmont’s database•Logging core drill sections into the database•Mapping outcrops around the mine site as well as independently mapping old drill holes and marking them for re-surveying.•Using a 3-D mapping program for modeling gold shapes and ore bodiesMSHA 5000-23 Certified•Driving out to current operations and marking depth, type, quality of rock etc. and reporting back driller progress as well as their adherence to protocol.•Instructed on underground operations safety and protocol and spent 5 days monitoring processes in the two different working underground mines

Greater Denver Area

•Worked in the TEM/PCM lab where I prepared samples for both Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) analysis. During my time in the lab I was trained in the following standard operating preparatory procedures (SOP):•SOP for TEM Ahera analysis using air filter cassettes•SOP for TEM micro vacuum analysis using dust and wipe samples•SOP for PCM analysis using air filter cassettes•Prepared pre-weight/post-weight cassettes to 5 significant figures for use inside the lab as well as for sale to other labs•Prepared multiple types of soil samples for Polarized Light Microscopy analysis•Managed the front desk, which included processing all the samples that came in, managed the transaction of Chain of Custodies, answered the phone, and entered all of the jobs into Reservoir's Microsoft Access database.
