Passionate about the universe of words and images, Samuele Rossi graduated cum laude in “Discipline delle Arti e dello Spettacolo (Disciple of the Arts and Entertainment) at the University of Pisa, in addition to graduating from the European Rosebud Film School with a diploma in Film and Television Direction.He later gained a Master’s Degree cum laude in Modern Philology at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome. He was awarded a scholarship during that same period and moved to New York to attend a post-graduate writing course at the New York Film Academy. He worked as an Assistant Director between 2008 and 2011. He made his feature flm debut in 2011 with La strada verso casa, which was pre-viewed at the São Paulo International Film Festival and at the International Rome FilmFest. From 2013 he started working in cinema documentary, specifically in biopic storytelling La memoria degli ultimi, Indro. L’uomo che scriveva sull’acqua (finalist at the Nastri D’Argento Doc 2017 awards), Biografa di un amore, Margherita La Voce delle Stelle, Bene Vita di Carmelo la macchina attoriale e Dino Meneghin Storia di una leggenda. For TV he directed Fuoco Sacro on 20th century Italian literatureIn the year 2019 he produced Se di tutto resta un poco. Sulle tracce di Antonio Tabucchi, the first documentary flm narrating the life of the great Italian writer, and L'Assedio presented in Marché du Film Festival in Cannes and as a special event at the Festival Internazionale dei Popoli. In 2020 he directed his second feature movie entitled Glassboy – an international co-production by Solaria Film, Peacock Film and WildArt Film in collaboration with Minerva Pictures and Rai Cinema. It celebrated its international premiere at the POFF Just Film Festival in Tallinn (winning the EFCA award in the Best Children’s Film category), in addition to a National Premiere during the Giffoni Film Festival (awarded the Giffoni Experience prize). Actually he is working on his third feature movie, Gorgius, and his new documentary PRIMA DELLA FINE. As of 2018, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Festival Internazionale dei Popoli. He is a lecturer in Film Direction at the Accademia Cinema Toscana since 2018 and from July 2021 has been teaching at Bottega Finzioni.
