Born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Sam's journey led them to San Francisco, where they've resided for nearly a decade. As a journalism major at SFSU, they channeled their communication skills into catalyzing public policy advocacy for the queer community and adjacent underserved groups. Sam played a pivotal role in street closures during 2020, saving small businesses and fostering vibrant neighborhood connectedness. In the crucial 2020 election, they mobilized underserved communities to exercise their right to vote. Notably, Sam spearheaded the creation of a vital COVID-19 hub in the Castro District, providing COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. Currently, Sam leads programming at the Transgender District, a City of San Francisco legislative. They spear the historic first-ever Transgender History Month, a milestone event that features diverse programs highlighting arts and culture, historical preservation, and culminates in a significant flag-raising ceremony at San Francisco City Hall. In addition to their work in historical preservation, Sam leads the Economic Empowerment Program at the Transgender District, a transformative initiative that includes assisting transgender entrepreneurs from the inception of their business ideas to securing storefronts. Sam oversees the acquisition process of the Economic Empowerment Program, meticulously documenting and analyzing data, crafting comprehensive reports, and employing visual storytelling to effectively communicate the program's impact, attract contracts, and secure funding. Through their strategic planning, they adeptly advance the program through multiple phases, guaranteeing its continued growth and effectiveness.Furthermore, Sam curated the Rent Stabilization Program, through which he has helped numerous transgender people maintaining their housing status, ensuring they have a stable and secure living environment. One of Sam's proudest accomplishments is their work in curating a pilot program that provides universal basic income to low-income transgender individuals.
