Sam Baron is the International Trade & Investment Coordinator in the Office of the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass. In this role, Sam is focused on facilitating global trade opportunities, strengthening foreign government and business relationships, and attracting foreign investment to the City of Los Angeles. Prior to this role, Sam was a consultant and policy researcher based in Tokyo, Japan, where he carried out academic research on trade and investment policy and worked with the United Nations Development Programme to assist Japanese companies in adhering to the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights (UNGPs). Throughout his career, Sam has held several roles working on the Indo-Pacific region, and as a policy practitioner, his commentary on foreign policy developments in Asia regularly appeared in international think tanks and media outlets.
