Samuel Harrison Quinn is a 2015 Graduate of NYU Sports Management Program at 247Sports. At the beginning, Sam applied for a position as a writer, which required weekly contributions to the NFL section of the publication. I realized his potential almost immediately, as his writing—from ideation to completion—displayed a strong breadth of knowledge and a knack for communicating complex ideas in a way that was easy to comprehend. Additionally, his attention to detail and positive demeanor made him a pleasure to work with. Within several months, The Sports Post was ready to launch a new section on the NBA, and with it, I promoted Sam to NBA Editor, giving him the freedom and power to lead that section from its inception. Sure enough, it became one of our most thriving and popular sections, due to Sam’s efforts as a writer, producing several stories per week, and as a leader, helping to recruit and guide the newly formed team of NBA writers. But, it wasn’t just the success that he had growing the section from the ground up that impressed me; it was the way in which he did it that proved how invaluable he was to our operation. He was constantly honing his craft, learning from others and finding new ways to communicate to readers through his stories. He was motivating the people around him to do the same, working with many of them individually to improve their writing skills. He pushed our writers to think differently about certain topics and worked with them to understand the world of sports on a deeper level. And, it was the combination of his hard work and inspiring leadership which allowed The Sports Post to grow from a six person blog to a publication with over 30 writers, editors, and publishers that produces over 75 stories per month in less than a year. Sam will flourish in any role in which he is placed, as his thoughtfulness, creativity, and eagerness to learn and improve will always guide him toward success."
