Sam Klein is a seasoned business development sustainability consultant with over 20 years of experience in policy, energy services, construction, building automation, and HVAC. Sam began his career in sustainability at Real Goods in 1998 as a project manager at their Solar Living Center where he lead educational seminars on natural building systems and solar PV installation .He earned an MBA in Marketing and Logistics from Penn State in 2000 writing theses on the residential markets for solar PV and the sustainability in Logistics. He went on to work at ICF Consulting in policy and account management for the EPA's Energy Star program. Sam was an author of a white paper for North East Utilities on Demand Side Management (DSM) using residential energy efficiency. He built on that experience to become a member of MaGrann Associates Pilot LEED for Homes Providership, helping define the LEED for Homes verification process as one of the first 12 Providers in the nation. His efforts lead MaGrann to certify over 3000 homes during his tenure, which was more than any other provider in the nation. During his tenure at MaGrann he founded the Philadelphia Building Industry Association's Green Committee.In 2011 Sam joined Comfort Systems USA Energy Services as their Director of Sustainability. He developed a LEED for Homes Providership, trained service salespeople on sustainability, assisted on over $12M in energy sales. During that time he was honored to present at GreenBuild in 2012, on the topic of MultiFamily Ventilation. In 2021 Sam joined The GEMM network as the COO. GEMM provides bundled engineering, finance, and construction management services to deliver CPACE loans seamlessly. Sam currently sits on the board of Einstein Healthcare Network. He is active with the Delaware Valley Green Building Council, The Philadelphia Sustainable Business Network, BIA Philadelphia, and the Sustainability Nexus.
