I undertook a year long internship at Christ Church Mayfair, with the aim of better finding out what it's like to work in a church ministry setting. Completed the Proclaimation Trust's Cornhill F1 Bible teaching course.

Expanded back-end functionality, implementing new data analysis workflows and converting code generated on the client-side to run server- side.Assisted in the migration of the app between hosting platforms, completing this task sooner than expected (within 1 week).Wrote google app engine functions to allow secure data download and added this to the user interface - learning to use Vue.js quickly to do so.Gained a greater appreciation for customer focused software development and the science motivating the development.

Computational projects:Attained 80% numerically modelling a hard sphere gas in Python using OOP, with the aim of extracting physical information from the system.Investigated of errors in using Monte Carlo integration, comparing the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm with various other pseudo-random number-based methods. This was praised for its comprehensiveness and received 85%.Directed a project in novel random number generation using a system based on rolling a die mechanically and using a webcam to record the number. This project was undertaken in Matlab and was used to implement a game of ’Higher or lower?’ for a departmental open day.Msci project:Studied the theory of Higgs Boson production mechanisms in depth to create machine learning models to better filter out background signals in the 2016/17 Large Hadron Collider data set.Designed, tested, statistically analysed and improved boosted decision tree and convolutional neural network models. The resultant method afforded an efficiency gain of 5% compared to the current method. Dissertation available on request.

Surpassed expectations of understanding and identified niche use-cases for Cisco’s AI driven Advanced Malware Protection to aid clients in meeting business goals.Wrote Python scripts to make detailed spreadsheet analysis more efficient, gathering useful data for clients such as IMG media, Fidessa, Diageo and LV insurance in 90% less time.Won intern hackathon:Created an application in Python with two other interns to scan and report emails for malicious links (using APIs for Cisco security research databases and IP address lookup) and asymmetrically encrypt emails with password and facial recognition. The application had a basic GUI using Tkinter and allowed users to login to their Gmail account to send emails.Presented and demonstrated the application - the complexity of our application developed over a short time was complimented.

Over School holidays, I work as an activity specialist at Cherry Lane Adventure Playground in Crawley, running activities for children and processing payments from parents.
