After getting laid-off last December I took time to focus on classes for a PSM of Bioinformatics at the University of Maine. I have completed 5 classes during my time at UMaine and am now looking to return to work before continuing with my degree. Through classes and CodeAcademy, I have developed skills in programming including three languages, R, SQL, and Python. I also have a solid understanding of statistics, advanced Excel functions, and have taken up to Calculus III.As I return to work, I am particularly interested in positions that involve data analysis and programming, however I would be open to lab work again. I would be happy to use the skill sets that I've developed as a lab technologist at Sema4 and PerkinElmer. I have grown to really enjoy lab work over my 4 years of experience. I have confidence in manually pipetting any library prep procedure, and I also am very comfortable with operating any automated laboratory equipment. During my time as a clinical laboratory technologist I have developed a precise and organized work ethic that delivers consistent results that patients would be proud of. During my time away from that lab I have developed many skills that would also qualify me for other roles. Despite not having direct work experience in bioinformatics, I would be very excited to use any of the programming languages I have learned over the past months. Any opportunity that would let me develop these skills would be amazing!
