Student Success Educator (March 2024 - Current)Student Success Educator (Equity) (February 2023 - March 2024)The Student Success Educator (Equity), within the Student Success and Teaching Advancement portfolio, actively contributes to the retention, academic success, and career progression of equity and academically at-risk students.Key Responsibilities and Achievements:• Coordinating Student Success Campaigns: Plan and execute targeted, timely, and inclusive Student Success campaigns aligned with significant student milestones, such as commencing university studies, failing a first-semester assessment, facing academic sanctions, or returning from a Leave of Absence.• Deepening Retention Practice: Identify opportunities and implement strategies to refine and broaden student retention practices, including optimising campaign alignment and understanding student needs through the ongoing development of the student risk progression profile.• Strengthening Partnerships: Collaborate with educators, academics, faculty members, and university support services to initiate student retention strategies and promote equal opportunities for academic achievement.• Evaluation and Reporting: Assess engagement outcomes and campaign effectiveness, proactively identify emerging student needs, and deliver insightful data-informed reports for decision-making.• Resource and Material Development: Design and develop innovative and strengths-based subject area and discipline-specific curricula, materials, support for learning tools, principles, and practices.• Daily Operations: Manage daily operations encompassing CRM administration, scheduling and supervising Student Success Guides, feedback collection processes, and compliance with health and safety policies.

The Careers and Skills Hub supports Charles Sturt students with a range of resources and training opportunities to ensure they can find work and be career ready. My main responsibility was to coordinate the annual Careers and Skills Festival - a three-day online event that gathers students, staff, industry professionals and facilitators to answer the question: how do we build sustainable careers and lives? Key Responsibilities: • Coordinate the CVENT Attendee Hub platform.• Program, facilitate and book key speakers, workshops and panels.• Oversee communication plan.• Draft event evaluation report.• Additionally, coordinate the weekly Careers and Skills newsletter and provide team support as needed.

Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia

From their opening days of study to their transition into the workforce, the Charles Sturt Mentoring Program supports students’ learning and professional development. Through one-to-one mentoring relationships, Charles Sturt Mentoring students expand networks, gain new knowledge and insights, and build new skills throughout their learning journey.I was recruited as Mentoring Officer to design, deliver and evaluate student peer-to-peer mentoring programs aligned with the student lifecycle. Key responsibilities and achievements included: • Supporting over 300 Mentors and Mentees to increase their sense of belonging, support service access, and skill development.• Working with stakeholders across the university to establish 5 peer mentoring programs that support specific student needs.• Establishing and maintaining Mentoring administrative, operational and program design processes.• Devising the Careers and Skills Hub communications strategy and coordinating and composing communications with student, staff and external stakeholders.• Supporting Careers and Skills Hub CRM use as CRM Super-User.• Supervising a student Mentoring Assistant.

Government Relations & Policy Officer (September 2019 – April 2021)Graduate Intern (September 2018 – September 2019)Government Relations and Policy (GRP) were QUT's key liaison point with all levels of government. Sitting within the Chancellery, GRP provided expert strategic advice on government risk assessment, issues management and executive correspondence to improve relationships with key government.Key responsibilities:• Provide strategic advice, support and reporting to Vice-Chancellor, University Executive and Director, GRP on a range of institutional strategy and policy initiatives impacting the higher education sector. • Compose speeches, reports, sector-wide reviews, op-eds, articles, editorials and other media for the Vice-Chancellor (and other members of the University Executive as required). Speeches have been received by distinguished guests including Federal and State politicians, President of the Bundesrat and Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller, and His Royal Highness The Duke of York.• Coordinate and draft university policy submissions to government and external inquiries and reviews.• Serve as QUT’s key liaison point with all levels of government. Establish and maintain quality collaborative relationships with key government stakeholders.• Establish and maintain quality collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the University community, including Senior Leadership where required.• Research and drafting for QUT Blueprint (Strategic Plan), internal university policy and procedures.• As foundational member, establish and maintain GRP administrative, operational and records management systems and processes.

The Student Success Group (SSG) meets students where they are in their university journeys, working with them to envision, design and achieve their professional futures.Key Achievements and Responsibilities:• Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence 2019 nominee in the category of Service Excellence in recognition of performance in the Student Leadership and Development Program Team.• Support transition of student leadership development initiatives through business transformation into Student Success Group organisational structure.• Strategy, programming, marketing and evaluation for QUT’s largest co-curricular program, Leadership and Development Program (L&D), which supports student to develop leadership capacities and deliver meaningful social change initiatives. 1,067 student and staff attended 117 workshops in 2018, with an Overall Satisfaction Rating of 4.35/5.• Develop material and facilitate training for L&D, Student Success Group staff, International College, Connect and other QUT programs in a range of contexts including leadership development, positive psychology, motivation and peak performance, team building and supporting commencing students.• Redesign and coordinate Student Success (formerly LDI) Ambassador, to deliver informal peer-to-peer support, profile QUT’s Success Stories (qutsuccess.wordpress.com) and deliver an RUOK? KickSTART is a pre-orientation conversion strategy targeting international, first-in-family, mature age, and rural and remote students.Key Responsibilities:• Support and coordinate delivery of two-day event.• Increase student retention by promoting new students’ sense of belonging through facilitated peer connection. • Promote access to student services, programs and resources available.• Coordinate online and Blackboard content. • Manage student volunteer team. • Create, facilitate and present program content. • Evaluate event success.

Service-Learning is an experiential education practice that pairs community servicewith curriculum through reflection, providing opportunities for students to explore local and global issues (Jacoby, 1996).Key Responsibilities:• Conceptualise and deliver scalable and impactful Service-Learning initiatives that provide opportunities for students to experience local and global issues. • Authentically engage with communities and coordinate project logistics.• Develop reflection agenda, facilitate group discussions and open panels, • Recruit and manage student volunteers.Projects:• The Bush Garden Project (May 2016-Oct 2016). Established a partnership between QUT and Somerset Hills State School P&C to re-invigorate and re-open the school bush tucker garden space in order to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in the school’s organisational environment and curriculum. Over the space of 6 months, a multi-disciplinary team utilised design thinking and processes, balanced the interests of community stakeholders, and coordinated a volunteer student team to re-open the garden as an educational and community space.• The Planting Trip (Jan 2016- April 2016). a partnership between QUT and the Queensland Folk Federation, where students explored the intersection of environmental conservation, consumerism and building community through the arts through the experience of volunteering at Woodford's Planting Festival.• Big Lift (Aug 2015 - Feb 2017). Coordinated a 40+ strong student team to deliver needs-based community and experiential education projects in regional and Indigenous communities in Queensland. Engaged in community consultation, developed reflection agendas, facilitated group discussions and open panels, coordinated project logistics, and recruited and managed volunteers.

QUT Connect is an on-campus volunteer program which helps new students settle into university life and build a vibrant campus community.Key Responsibilities:• Coordinate projects to assist student’s transition into university life and to build vibrant campus community• Facilitate orientation activities and social events for new students, coordinate information and welcome tents, lead Connect teams across campus and present QUT101 sessions to new students.• Mentor, train and support skill development of 100+ strong volunteer team.• MC events such as Harmony Day, which brought together the multitude of cultures at QUT for a day of food and music.

First Contact was a one-day pilot event (run within the QUT School of Psychology and Counselling) designed to address key graduate interviewing skills through mock interviews and panel discussions with real world professionals.Key Responsibilities:• Support event development, design and delivery.• Coordinate event logistics, consult with professionals and create interview materials.• Evaluate pilot success. On a 5-point scale from "not at all satisfied" to "very satisfied", the average participant rated their satisfaction as a learning experience at 4.8 (80% were very satisfied). Identical scores were found when reporting the extent to which students felt that First Contact helped prepare them for the interviewing process and finding a job (mean score = 4.8, 80% very confident). The student cohort reported that they, on average, felt more confident demonstrating every identified interviewing skill.

Key Responsibilities:• Create case note databases and analysed trends in specific areas in law for barristers’ use, including quantum and liability assessments in assault cases, pure psychiatric injury arising from negligence and civil damages for sexual abuse.• Create systems for office administration, general accounting and taxation, dictation typing, and diary and brief management for 4-9 barristers and their service companies.

Yangon, Myanmar

Backed by a New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant, I worked with NGO BABSEACLE to promote access to justice and clinical legal education in Myanmar. Key Achievements and Responsibilities:• Create and deliver lessons for BABSEACLE’s Clinical Legal Education program, promoting justice education and the rule of law by building the English capacity of East Yangon University Law School teachers and students. Lesson outcomes were overwhelmingly positive.• Work in partnership with QUT, University of Newcastle and East Yangon University to cross cultural and language barriers and deliver lesson plans within a week-long time frame.• Adapt facilitation style for non-native English speakers by reducing messages to first principles, selecting the key information and communicating it succinctly through deliberate language choices and non-verbal cues.• Create lesson plans, education resources, activity master lists and templates for future teaching use• Evaluate EYU student outcomes through a combination of feedback, coded classroom activity responses and observation, delivering an evaluation report that communicated the benefits and outcomes of the externship program, training and teaching, and provided recommendations for its improvement.

Aussie Hoops provides boys and girls with a fun and safe basketball experience that serves as an introduction to a lifetime of involvement in the game. In addition to promoting healthy and active lifestyles, the program serves as a platform for social development and inclusion - fostering stronger and more vibrant communities and individuals. My coaching philosophy is centered on providing a fun, structured and active experience for all participants, providing opportunities for participants to experience and enjoy basketball.
