Hired as a design engineer following completion of a contract position. Required to reverse engineer and design military simulators and bezels. Handle new product design and simulation modeling to support the manufacturing of products.Job Highlights:Simulator: Reversed engineered LRU's for military aircraft. Integral in designing the structure of the simulator as well as designing the ceiling and overhead lighting. Learned to check drafts and performed most of the draft checker responsibilities by the end of my first year. Became the primary engineer for fixing problems on the assembly floor and now oversee all engineering simulator dilemmas. Kept parts moving through production so products shipped as soon as possible. Learned to research components and communicate with companies to obtain necessary information.Bezels: Designed new NVIS compatible bezels for Bell Helicopter and Lockheed Martin. Updated old parts as well as designed new ones to fit the form, fit and function of the specified project. Became knowledgeable in designing single sided copper circuit boards. Learned to utilize and comprehend military and federal specifications.Machining: Through the different aspects of the simulator project, I have developed a working knowledge of bent and machined sheet metal as well as jet cut and machined plastic parts. The comprehensiveness of my designs and drafts have benefitted from the chance to observe and communicate with welding and machining specialists.Manufacturing: I have had the opportunity to participate in the R&D and design phase as well as follow parts through production and assembly stages. This has enabled me to learn all the steps in the manufacturing process and how to design a high quality and cost effective unit for the company.
