His diverse background straddles a broad spectrum of disciplines which include strategic planning, brand activation, industry development and operations. He began his career at the Singapore Tourism Board where he developed and honed his expertise in marketing, investment promotion & industry development. Samuel was involved in the formulation of the Tourism 2015 master plan which was a key catalyst in reshaping new tourism experiences that Singapore had to offer and worked on the highly acclaimed 'Uniquely Singapore' brand which further entrenched Singapore's stature as a vibrant destination. Samuel has also spent a significant amount of time working overseas and is renowned for his deep knowledge of the Thailand and Indochina markets.He joined the CapitaLand Group in 2006 where he developed and demonstrated critical skills in general management, business development and operations. As General Manager (Singapore) for Ascott Holdings - one of the largest operator of serviced apartments in the world- he oversaw the listed company’s hospitality portfolio in Singapore which accounted for the largest proportion of the group's annual revenue. Samuel also spent a significant amount of time in the Gulf region and played a key role in township developments in the Middle East particularly in Abu Dhabi.With a substantial track record behind him, he has since forayed into consulting with a specialization in the tourism and leisure sectors. Primary areas of his practice include strategy formulation and review, market research, competitive analysis, brand / market positioning, and project feasibility studies. In the past 2 years, he was also involved with a proptech start-up and is currently advising a Bangkok-based travel agency on the curation of learning experiences.
