At Solray Systems, I was in charge of developing a lignin extraction process. My main tasks around this development included: Valve sequencing, developing a heat transfer and production model, and designing the layout of the extraction augers with all supporting infrastructure. I successfully redesigned the cooling water system for the acetone recovery.

At Geo40, I worked at the Northern Plant which utilizes a proprietary process that extracts silica and lithium from geothermal fluid. This plant is capable of producing 5,000 tonnes of silica per annum. Whilst working there, I used the SCADA systems to monitor and control processes, operated heavy machinery, and used my understanding of engineering.

As a rural firefighter, I was professionally trained for a wide range of emergency scenarios. I gained considerable experience working within a team fighting fires throughout the Far North, in particular the Karikari Peninsula blaze, where I was required to co-ordinate multiple helicopters.
