Samuel Tebandeke is a screenwriter, producer and director with a background in finance and accounting. He is the CEO and co-founder of Kiasi TV, a multiformat streaming platform for short form Afrocentric audio and video content. He has worked in film for over a decade and has initiated and facilitated several capacity building initiatives in East Africa. His current initiative, the Great Lakes Creative Producers Lab that runs annually every November in Nairobi, Kenya aims to give emerging creative producers the skills to empower them to manage a film project from development to distribution.Samuel also runs Kiasi Productions a full service production company and equipment rental house that produces content across different genres and formats.Samuel is a screenwriter, producer and director. Alumnus of the MNET Screenwriters workshop (2009) and Maisha Film Lab (2008 & 2009), Samuel has gone on to write for TV and film. Two of his feature films have been optioned and he has projects at various stages of development. His debut short film, Another Beautiful Day was released in mid 2017 and was in the official selection of the 40th Durban International Film Festival 2019. His directorial debut Ten O’clock, a short film, premiered in April 2019 In Competition for the Young African Film Makers Award at the Afrika Filmfestival in Leuven, Belgium. The film is also In Competition at PÖFF Shorts Film Festival 2019 in Estonia. His desire is to contribute his voice to the growing body of African cinematic work that reaches audiences all over the African continent and abroad. He previously worked as Project Coordinator (Kenya) for One Fine Day Films, a pan African film training initiative that has trained well over 1,000 emerging filmmakers and produced seven feature films over the past 10 years.
