About Samuel Lee

For the 2022-2023 academic year, I am on loan from my position as Norco College Vice President of Academic Affairs to serve as the Chief Ambassador of the California MAP Initiative. The mission of the California MAP Initiative is to maximize credit for prior learning (CPL) for veterans and students in the California Community College system and beyond. Currently, 55 of the 116 California Community Colleges participate in the MAP 2022 Cohort, a community of colleges committed to awarding up to a year of college credit in recognition of the mastery acquired through prior learning, training, and experience.With more than 30 years of higher education teaching and administrative experience, my team and I are working to ensure that colleges have the support, training, technology, and policy reforms needed to articulate courses at scale and award maximum credit for prior learning to our veterans and adult re-entry students.I have a passion for student success and for creating and strengthening teams, programs, and systems. I am committed to promoting everyday excellence in the academy by fostering a student-centered culture of innovation in a climate of collegiality. I look for strategic opportunities to create sustainable, long term change that improves equitable access, academic achievement, personal growth, and principled service among our diverse students, faculty, and staff.
