International consulting firm then headquartered in New York, specializing in Real Estate development and Oil & Gas. He was responsible for providing specialized legal counseling, conducting Executive Searches within the Oil & Gas, Real Estate and Financial/Security segments of the business community: and for providing Career Transition Counseling, which services he introduced to the firm’s Canadian and U.S. clients. He had complete responsibility for profit and loss within his region and also served on the Company’s Executive Committee as a shareholder.

Served for four years as an officer of Alberta’s largest land developer, Carma Developers Ltd., where he headed the Law, Human Resources and Corporate Communications functions in the positions of Corporate Secretary & General Counsel. Sam helped the organization solidify and expand to a $1 Billion company by representing Carma in negotiations concerning the purchase and sale of substantial assets, corporate acquisitions and various joint ventures in both Canada and the United states. He successfully represented Carma in all litigation matters and developed and maintained necessary legal relations with municipal, provincial and federal authorities. Sam was involved in a number of public financings and, as well, administered the terms of a variety of documents relating to public bond issues and participated in the formulation and implementation of the Company’s tax policy. He helped prepare and execute a positive public relations program and monitored all aspects of corporate public communications. He also served as Administrative Assistant to the President by which he handled all significant human resources matters.

Four years of extensive corporate and human resources experience through his non-legal association with Canadian Pacific Ltd. He served as Assistant to the Vice-President, Personnel and Pensions at Head Office in Montreal, Quebec and, in this capacity, was responsible for Pension Plan Administration and Design and implementation of Employee Benefits for subsidiaries, including CP Ships in Bermuda. He also served as Manager, Passenger Pricing and Rules, in the Industry Affairs/Marketing Department of another subsidiary, C.P.Air in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was responsible for passenger fares and rules, credit and time payment plan rules, currency matters, IATA and Government compliance of fares and rules. He also negotiated air tariffs at International Traffic Conferences. Sam was in CP’s Fast Track Management Program, and was, at that time, the youngest manager in CP’s history.
