- Managed research projects on climate change regulation, and corporate water reporting and sustainability. Received seed corn funding to develop international research partnerships with colleagues in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Produced a number of research outputs for management, geography, and sustainability-focused academic journals, as well as participated in workshops with government regulatory bodies. - Developed and convened a third year undergraduate module on strategy to 120+ students, teaching both lectures and seminars. Responsible for synchronising learning aims with module content and forms of assessment. - Co-directed the development and expansion of sustainability research and teaching within the School of Business and Management, communicating information about sustainability and environmental governance related-courses and degree programmes at QMUL and other educational institutions to the School Dean. Awarded funding to organise a series of workshops led by international acclaimed sustainability scholars. - Engaged with external institutions, organisations and the wider community to support research, teaching and School strategic objectives.- Managing Editor of special issue of Journal Business Research, Hypocrisy in Corporate and Individual Social Responsibility: Causes, Consequences and Implications. Appointed by Principal Investigator Professor Suraje Dessai to contribute to European Research Council funded research ($1.1 million) investigating which advanced knowledge systems can most effectively harness science and technology for long-term sustainable adaptation. UK Economic and Social Research Council funded thesis investigating “Corporate Responses to Climate Change Reporting Requirements in the UK” The thesis investigated the affects of climate change reporting on the performance and management of corporate business organisations. Is corporate reporting rhetoric coupled (or decoupled) from reality? The following objectives were addressed:1. Identify general patterns and approaches to climate reporting in the business community. The objective determined who is reporting on climate change, and what climate information is being reported and how. 2. Explain variations in climate reporting. The objective determined internal motivations and external influences behind climate reporting. 3. Discuss corporate responses to climate change. The objective determined what climate measures companies are undertaking, and the factors influencing corporate decisions to implement such actions. The research itself included:- Quantitative and qualitative analysis of 200 corporate websites and documents. - Engaging with and developing working relationships with 22 multinational companies.- 42 interviews were conducted with senior figures in companies across the Energy, Financial, Mining, Oil and Gas, and Water sectors.- 20 interviews were conducted with individuals representing one of the following stakeholder groups: UK Government MPs, Civil servants, Regulators, Consultants, and not-for-profit organisations.
