Samuel is a Charles Ching Scholar. He has an eclectic blend of experience in both legal and commercial sectors. In Deloitte, he audited the accounts of listed and private companies and provided advices to clients on business and management matters. Being a Judicial Assistant at the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal in 2020-21, he conducted research, analysed points of law and assisted with the drafting of legal opinions for the appellate judges. He served his pupillage with Mr. Robert Pang SC, Mr. Richard Khaw SC, Mr. Tony Li SC, Mr. Eugene Yim and Mr. Vincent Chen and was called to the Bar in 2022. Samuel has acquired a wide range of experience across civil and commercial litigation, civil fraud, corporate insolvency matters, child-related and matrimonial finance disputes, employment issues, personal injuries work, criminal law and regulatory offences, land and property claims, disciplinary proceedings, arbitration, and defamation. He is developing a broad civil and criminal practice and accepts instructions in all areas of work. He has received training from the Master of Arts in Translation with a focus on legal translation and interpretation, and is able to draft legal submissions and conduct trials in both Chinese (traditional and simplified) and English. He has also contributed extensively to legal journals on a broad array of topics, including the law of trusts, land law, property law, law of succession, family law, arbitration, company law, banking and finance, agency, criminal law, criminal procedure, civil procedure, and statutory interpretation, covering various jurisdictions. His publications are regularly cited both in Hong Kong and abroad, including by Snell’s Equity, the leading authority on the law of trusts, and two apex courts, namely the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal and the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
