About Samu Rautiainen
I have gone through a diverse career path, but through University studies I have found my calling; a research and development oriented work with autonomous robots, combining robotics and AI/ML. My earlier career as electrical technician and electrical engineer showed me, that for me to enjoy my work, I need to have real challenges. Therefore, the master's studies were the logical path to continue, and it appeared to be the right decision.Machine Learning and AI had been undiscovered for me before the Uni studies, and I was happily surprised finding such courses and the field in general. I have never been as excited and interested of a subject professionally as I am about ML/AI.Through the research mentality learned as a researcher, I am able to conquer toughest problems, which might be ponderous to others. The autonomy of any vehicles is not a solved problem, and that's why I have a passion for it; to be solving a something "unsolved". The complexity of autonomy is the key driving force for such field, and therefore it is not necessarily the only career path in the future.I think like an "engineer" in work environment and on my free time. I solve problems through logical thinking, and do informed decisions through research. When I come across a new unknown subject, I have an urge to understand it - at least in the level that I understand the underlining principles.To not only talk about engineering related subjects, I could add few things about free-time-me. I like to keep myself in shape and healthy by going to gym and occasionally running and walking. The workdays and free time tastes better with a sprinkle of heavy music, which I can call myself a major consumer for.
