I'm a cultural anthropologist specializing in ethics, value conflict, and contemporary religious life. I use my qualitative research training to make sense of situations where people find themselves pulled between conflicting commitments. The anthropological perspective is about challenging ourselves to understand what matters to people whose value worlds we might not recognize, share or easily agree with.I'm currently writing a book about intellectual integrity in American evangelicalism, which is based on longterm fieldwork in Tennessee. I’m also co-leading a project examining how religious values shape financial strategies in the social innovation sector, namely through a Montreal-based case study about the transformation of heritage church buildings into community spaces. For more on my scholarly work, check out my profile on https://mcgill.academia.edu/SamVictor
