As an engineer of one of the 3 pillars of Azure Core (Compute, Networking, and Storage), I design and implement features that are used on a massive scale - every single computer on every Azure data center.I am learning daily about SDN's control plane and data plane and how we deliver impact to all of Azure's customers as every packet that flows through Azure has to go through my team's product.With this level of responsibility, I am reminded every day of how critical it is that we never have an outage and our ability to swiftly triage, mitigate, and solve problems is crucial to maintaining that promise to our customers.Developing with quality, scale, and performance in mind with a DevOps model is teaching me how to be deliberate with any decisions as well as being flexible with my code.Currently I am developing using Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK), an open source software project managed by the Linux Foundation to develop a scalable, performant, and reliable solution for Azure's data plane

As a software engineer in the Windows Update team, I helped design and build microservices in the cloud to modernize Microsoft's 20-year-old pipeline (from XP days!) for creating windows updates.I wrote a lot of high quality specs and implemented them using various Azure offerings such as Event Grid, Cosmos DB, Service Fabric etc.Through this work I learned to design and develop for scale, performance, maintainability, and resilience. Along with that I weighed various pros and cons of technologies and software design patterns to come up with the best maintainable solution.I was also exposed to various infrastructure concepts due to the distributed nature of the microservices by utilizing Service Fabric and gained invaluable experience solving problems in this domain.
