About Sana Merchant

My first journey into Leadership was all about me. I was a 25-year-old who learned quickly and delivered - so, I somehow found my way into a manager role. I thought being smart, motivated, and being able to execute, made you a leader. It worked until times got tough. Quite a bit of heartache and a semi-successful business later, I learned that showing People the path forward with knowledge alone, didn't actually win them over. I couldn't lead them because our relationship was based on my needs - not theirs. I learned leading with LUV and a Servant's Heart is the only way to truly lead. I am so blessed to have learned those lessons and now have the opportunity to lead our Technology Recruiting Team at Southwest Airlines. Our team is the best Team I've ever been on. We've got a Team built on trust, collaboration, innovation, caring, and general LUV for each other. We've got a Team that shows up for each other with the intent to make each other's day better and lend a hand. Success is thought of as a Team sport; we only win if we all cross the finish line.
