The Marvell Nanofabrication Lab at UC Berkeley includes more than 15,000 sqft. of Class100 and Class1000 cleanrooms. The Nanolab provides more than 100 Principal Investigators and over 500 academic and industrial researchers with a complete set of microfabrication and nanofabrication tools. As a Process Engineering Intern, I'm in charge of:● Metrology and characterization of thin film deposition tools in the lab for smooth functioning● Developing novel deposition and cleansing mechanisms for Silicon Carbide thin films using the PECVD tools● Sustaining campus-wide research by maintaining, troubleshooting, and operating PECVD tools in the Nanolab

Dr. Waqas Khalid's research team is focused on advancing nanostructure-based devices to address critical challenges in healthcare, energy, and semiconductors, and our research encompasses a versatile platform, including multi-analyte sensor arrays, carbon nanotube-based biosensors, chip holders/interfaces, custom electronics, and advanced data processing software. Our team's focus was on developing next-generation energy storage devices from carbon nanotube structures and novel dielectrics.• Designing nanocapacitors by inventing a dielectric that is 10^7 times stronger through ALD• Creating efficient processes to functionalize CNTs on the chip to build more accurate blood chemical sensors• Designing accurate electron beam devices for potential lithography applications to improve nanometer accuracy• Fabricating the nanocapacitors and the CNT chips• Chip testing to analyze our dielectric and device performance• Investigating molecular changes in the nanolaminates which provides us with the superior dielectric constant
