As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers. Erick was responsible for driving Cisco revenue in both Public Sector and Global Service Provider markets in the northern US territory and Canada. Erick’s success was dependent not only on his ability to sell, but also on the relationships he developed with regional channel partners and Cisco account teams. As Director of Engineering, Erick managed a regional group of Sales Engineers, Systems Engineers, and CAD operators as they developed, tested, and modified solutions to technical problems for their customers. Erick was responsible to direct and coordinate production, operations, and quality assurance of the overall security offering as well as the fiscal profitability of the business unit as in conjunction with the overall goals and objectives of the company. Oversee the research and development of new products and procedures. Hire, train, and mentor other engineers and supporting staff. Discuss and present project specifications and make detailed plans to accomplish goals. Analyze market demand and available resources. Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts. Approve expenditures and establish administrative policies, procedures, and standards.

While at Tyco, Erick managed a national group of Network Applications Managers including a team of Cisco Certified Internetwork Experts. The focus was to assist customers with determining their requirements for network performance, security, capacity and scalability. Provide design services for network architecture in the enterprise. Conduct network assessments to develop a baseline and make necessary recommendations to adjust the network for video and other security applications. Identify, diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve potential and actual performance, hardware and software problems. Develop and implement a strategy for generating alternative designs at each developmental stage, and trade-off results that trigger iteration of the design process

Design and implement highly complex networks across widely dispersed geographical areas. Configure switches, routers and firewalls in multi-protocol networks across all network layers. Carry out performance, security monitoring, and documentation of the relevant network segments to ensure data integrity, quality of service and environmental safety. Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents. Coordinate the successful simultaneous development of several projects. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
