Magnesium chloride hexahydrate and calcium chloride dihydrate have been investigated individually as potential candidates for thermochemical heat storage material having high energy density but have respective problems of corrosion and stability. This project focuses on mixing these two salt hydrates in various molar ratios and analysing the mixed samples for better energy storage material.Improved the energy storage material for domestic water and space heating in a typical dutch house.1 kg of the mixed sample can heat 7.5 litres of water from 10 to 40-degree celsius.Experimental techniques involved X-ray diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and a self-built distillation set-up at TU/e lab to both qualify and quantify the corrosive nature of the samples. In the kinematic regime, flux expulsion process is observed. That is, all the magnetic field is expulsed away from the vortex flow and is concentrated towards its edges. Whereas in the dynamics regime, the relative movement between the electrically conducting fluid and the magnetic field produces an electromotive force in accordance with Faraday's law. This force is called Lorentz force which dominates and suppresses the flux expulsion process and ultimately creating Alfven waves. Show less
