"From Engineering services to IT Services and a lot in between"After graduating as a Mechanical Engineer, I worked in engineering services in Shipbuilding projects. Post that I worked as a SME in a software product company making customized software for Ship design.As a mechanical engineer, I wanted to get into product development, hence for next few years I worked as a Design engineer/ Project Manager building wind turbines. While my role revolved around ‘What’ and ‘How’ to build things, during this time, the missing piece was ‘Why’ are we building these things.Hence, to figure out the ‘Why’ question, I decided to pursue MBA from IIM Calcutta and equip myself with Business/Management knowledge.Post MBA I worked as Program Manager in infrastructure projects. In these techno-functional/commercial roles, I was able to leverage my technical skills and got an opportunity to apply business skills.Equipped with all prior experience and knowledge, I decided to start a B2B e-commerce company for custom-made engineering goods. But destiny had other plans, probably, and I got back into corporate world.Currently as a Program Management Consultant in IT services, my role involves helping companies with their Digital Transformation journey. I wish to work in a role at the intersection of business and technology where I get to leverage past experience and learn new things.As a quick learner, I was able to take my learnings of working in different industries and companies to my next roles and deliver value to the projects.
