CenturyTel’s team is one of the smaller teams (just 5 IPTV engineers led by Sandeep Bhalla/Director – IPTV Video Center & Vickey Callen/VP of Broadband) supporting their Mediaroom deployment. Despite this, CenturyTel’s IPTV team is currently the only operator to successfully perform Mediaroom upgrades on their own. In 2008, CenturyTel’s IPTV team upgraded Mediaroom SP 1.1 to SP 2.0 and then to 3.0. In conjunction with this server side upgrade they also facilitated several client upgrades. All of this was done without any significant outage. CenturyTel is one of only four operators worldwide that can customize and sign their own production clients. This is a security issue that requires a specific infrastructure as well as considerable technical knowledge of the Mediaroom client and server applications.
