Born and raised in Campbell River, I’ve worked in customer service and maintenance roles. Although I don't have any IT work experience, these roles helped me learn the importance of staying consistent even when tasks were challenging.I’m naturally quiet and tend to take time to process things. During Covid, I struggled to find a career. I wasn't confident in my abilities in any sector so I went back to school to upgrade my high school education. While looking through the courses in North Island College, I signed up for the Web Design. Learned about HTML/CSS and the fundamentals for front-end web development. This sparked my interest in tech as I learned how websites were made, I wanted to learn how the web browser itself was made and so on. My curiosity led me to apply to more tech courses which covered the basics of programming with Python and object oriented programming with Java. Slowly, I started to gain confidence, I learned some C++ through self study and worked on some mental health issues during this time. Now I'm currently with NPower, which is further improving my IT and work related skills. Through their help, I'm now excited to pursue a career in IT! Hopefully I can bring a unique perspective to a ever changing field.
