The OPEN Commercial Risk Capabilities team consists of 162 highly talented commercial underwriters, business analysts, commercial credit policy experts, and capability architects in Gurgoan, Salt Lake City, Phoenix and New York City. The team provides small business specific risk and capacity assessment based on company financials, commercial and consumer bureaus and public information. They design and execute all commercial underwriting processes for OPEN to drive scale/efficiency, deliver profitable revenue growth and superior commercial customer experience. To date, the commercially underwritten portfolio is growing at twice the rate of overall OPEN and historic low credit losses despite the challenges facing most small businesses in the current economic environment.Additionally, the team led the implementation of an Appeals and Second-look process for credit line reductions allowing customers to submit financial documentation to reconsider the decision. Built Score!, a world-class assessment engine that now runs over 800 models every day to provide micro-segmentation and profitability calculation for every customer-offer, created an industry leading Institutional Customer Linking and Identification Capability to link all AXP institutional customers across lines of business. For example, implemented no charge back guarantee at Dell using address verification from Acxiom. Established relationships with major oil companies' such as ExxonMobil and Chevron to reduce fraud losses by 50% by implementing geo-location and time-specific rules, zip code prompts, track one, etc. Created the Merchant Call Verification team in Greensboro to dramatically reduce mail order fraud losses by enrolling merchants as partners in fighting fraud and enable them to report and double-check suspicious approved transactions; first six months' savings over $10 million. Partnered with Merchant Services to implement zip code prompts at Wal-mart. Led the development and deployment of intelligent 6-digit approval code printed on every record of charge for American Express. In addition, devised automated methods to detect credit bust-out schemes using a large number of 'bread-crumbs' that fraudsters often leave behind like ANI, DDA, IP Address, etc.I joined American Express as an Econometrician in the World-wide Fraud group in 1997 and was named CSBS Champion in 2002 - highest employee award in AXP.
