At Semmtech, I am responsible for stimulating and managing innovation projects. These projects aim to improve our products and services for overcoming information challenges in, amongst others, the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. Additionally, I developed semantic models for our clients according to the principles of the Semantic Web, shaping their information to best fit its intended application whilst taking advantage of.

Working with the latest in Semantic technology, Semmtech aids businesses to model their information and vocabularies in a smart, reusable manner. My main task at Semmtech was to further develop SEMMweb™, a platform specifically geared towards creating, viewing, and manipulating such semantic models, or ontologies.

My doctoral dissertation, titled "Digital Thesauri as Semantic Treasure Troves", investigates how Web-based dissemination of historical language thesauri can be improved to facilitate academic explorations of language and culture. The investigation includes a case study of "A Thesaurus of Old English", expressing it in a Linguistic Linked Data form and.

My tasks included providing customers with information on the shows and concerts scheduled at the Leidse Schouwburg theatre and the Stadsgehoorzaal concert hall, as well as selling tickets and processing reservations. For my MSc thesis, I ensured that this company's distributed tracking systems (systems that can track objects or people in a three-dimensional space) could achieve highly accurate clock synchronization using a local area network connection, even when that network experiences a large amount of traffic.
