M.Sc. Sander Brinkman graduated ( 2002) on climate change at Wageningen University, the Netherlands. He built a policy related carbon sequestration model, which was applied by the Presidency at the CoP 6 conference in The Hague, 2000.In 2001 he prepared the first overview of Dutch adaptation practices and needs as a trainee at the Dutch Ministry of the Environment. After a break of 1.5 years (tour leader in Africa), he went back into business by getting self-employed as a consultant.Sander was appointed to the Technical Support Unit (TSU) of Working Group III (Mitigation) ofthe Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He organized Expert Meetings on Adaptation, Mitigation and Sustainable Development (February 2005) and on New Scenarios (September 2007). Furthermore, he assisted the process of assessing and reviewing the WG III Fourth Assessment Report and organized an IPCC Outreach Event in Beijing on WG III AR4 (May 2008).He further worked for PBL (Bilthoven, NL) on the carbon cycle of the Integrated Model to Assess the Global Environment (IMAGE) and for the Dutch Ministry of the Environment: developing a post-2012 Information Toolkit, which has been used by the EU during their post-Kyoto negotiations.In addition to his consultancy he was team manager and lecturer at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, study program Climate & Management, focusing on sustainability in the built environment, meteorology, climate change, governance and research (2008-2018).From November 2013 til November 2014, he joined the IPCC again, now as Deputy Head & Senior Science Officer for the Technical Support Unit of the Synthesis Report.Nowadays Sander is working for the municipality of The Hague, as climate adaptation officer. Responsible for climate adaptation policy, and making it happen.
