A 4 year full-time education program for students. Our course had a total of about 250 students divided over the 4 years and about 20 teachers in the Civil Engineering department. I taught varying courses such as several big group projects/assignments, AutoCAD basics (2D) lessons and Revit basics (3D) lessons. I also guided several classes as individual student counsellor and guided students during their 5 months internships in the field. I also organised frequent field excursions for students to interesting companies and construction sites.

A big international company in environment consultancy and engineering (+/- 3.400 people worldwide, +/- 1.500 people in the Netherlands).Primarily (movable)bridges and tunnels designs & asset management. As both a project manager and design manager I was responsible for the overall organisation of the project (time schedules, budgets, communications, resources [internal coworkers and external sub-contractors], etc.) as well as managing the technical design of the civil structure. This required me to work together with many different experts such as structural engineers, mechanical engineers, water specialists, BIM/CAD specialists, geotechnical engineers, etc. During the last three years I also helped coordinating a team of about 25 people in the civil structures team working at our office in the city of Heerenveen. Help dividing and scheduling work between different specialists and projects. Help (organise) training and coaching of junior/medior coworkers and interns. Keep an eye out for the general well-being and motivation of individual co-workers.

I was also involved in the development and implementation of a new software program for the asset management industry.

Research paper on asset management of wooden civil constructions. We researched the degradation process of wooden structures as well as determining and objectively measuring the amount of this degradation. As a direct result of our research, the company (Westenberg) purchased a new high-tech measuring device (called a Resistograph) for the detailed inspection of wooden structures and determining the exact amount of (internal) degradation.
