Project: Lost and FoundThe NetTracer Lost and Found project is an ongoing effort to re-engineer existing application functionality, which supports a lost and found managed service, into a suitable design in order to make it usable by NetTracer’s existing client base. Responsibilities:● Worked with key stakeholders to define the requirements for the new lost and found offering.● Collaborated with the product owner to groom the backlog and prioritize PBIs.● Served as scrum master to ensure the engineering team adhered to agile processes.● Conducted scrum ceremonies, such as daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.● Led team development sessions to teach engineers new tools and development techniques. ● Adopted pair programming to improve developer efficiency and disseminate product knowledge among team members.● Used automated refactoring tools to transition legacy code into a design that could be brought under unit test.● Leveraged TDD to re-architect existing lost and found functionality into a standalone service.● Used Jacoco and Eclemma to monitor unit test code coverage for ongoing development.● Refactored core components to reduce the required lines of code from over 4,500 to approximately 700 without reducing performance or removing functionality.● Converted existing unit tests to use JMockit for testing integration points.

Project: Southwest Airlines Co.The Southwest project was an implementation effort to modify the NetTracer application sufficiently to maintain their existing workflows and replace their legacy baggage management system.Responsibilities:● Implemented customer requested features using Java 1.6, Struts, Spring, and Hibernate.● Used Mockito to test functionality that was dependent on 3rd party integrations.● Adopted JRebel to increase productivity by removing the need for rebuilds in order to see changes take effect.● Oversaw the transition from CVS to Git and acted as the commit authority to the master repository.● Worked with the client on site to prototype application workflows to meet their specific business needs.● Collaborated with customer QA teams to prioritize defect fixes based on severity of impact to the client.

Project: NexTraqNexTraq is a web application that allows customers to manage and track their mobile assets through the combination of a proprietary GPS device and a web-based front end that is built around Google maps technology. The purpose of the NexTraq application is to help customers reduce their fleet management costs. Responsibilities:● Conducted meetings with product management to ensure the proposed solutions fulfilled customer requirements.● Designed and implemented the approved designs using Java, Spring, and Hibernate.● Altered the database schema in Microsoft SQL Server to support changes to the object model.● Developed new, and altered existing, user interfaces using JSP, Spring tag libraries, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Project: UHS PruittUHS Pruitt is one of the most predominate providers of health care and hospice services to the south east region. This project involved the development of a web based dashboard in Oracle Business Intelligence to allow upper management to track key performance indicators across hundreds of business units within the company.Responsibilities:● Executed test scripts to ensure the validity of various reports and screens in the OBI dashboard.● Designed test scripts as needed to allow for testing of newly created reports.● Developed and executed SQL queries for validating data presented in various reports throughout the system.● Modified reports in the OBI system to correct bugs and implement cosmetic changes to report pages.● Created technical training documentation to describe basic and advanced uses of the system to upper management as well as lower level end users.

This project gave the customer the ability to pay for parking without the need for small change, a credit card, or even their physical presence at a parking meter.Responsibilities:● Defined and designed the object model in UML and implement the relevant objects in Java.● Utilized Spring and Hibernate to instantiate the various objects and persist them to the database.● Designed the relational database and implemented the table structure in MySQL.● Created servlets in J2EE to provide the necessary business logic.● Used JSP’s, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to implement the various user interface pages in the application.

Project: Starlubricants.roStar Lubricants, SRL, is one of the largest distributors of Exxon Mobil products in eastern Europe. This project was an initiative to redesign the company’s web site and bring them into compliance with Exxon Mobil’s branding requirements for distribution partners.Responsibilities:● Redesigned a vanilla distribution of Joomla to provide functionality requested by the customer.● Implemented web pages as necessary in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to conform to a wireframe template that was created in Photoshop CS4.● Used PHP to modify core components of Joomla to meet customer specifications.● Modified the underlying MySQL database to accommodate modifications to existing PHP modules.● Altered JavaScript and CSS as necessary to ensure cross browser compatibility across the application.● Ensured that all pages contained in the site were CSS and XHTML valid.

Project: Blackberry Development ToolsThe Blackberry Development Tools project involved the development of a custom plugin for the Eclipse IDE that would incorporate simulator functionality found in third party tools provided by Research In Motion. This would allow software developers to create mobile applications for various Blackberry devices in Eclipse in a much more developer friendly environment.Responsibilities:● Designed the plugin structure in UML to allow the plugin to integrate seamlessly with the Eclipse IDE.● Implemented the plugin in Java to provide developers with a custom perspective in the Eclipse IDE specifically tailored toward the development of Blackberry applications.● Created custom views and editors in Java to support the development of Blackberry projects.● Conducted unit testing in JUnit to ensure that the plugin components were functioning as designed and intended.

Project: Stock Portfolio Ranking SystemThis project was intended to provide personal investors with a tool that would allow them to create a ranking system for stocks based on technical analysis, as well as custom user defined, indicators. Once the ranking system was created, the user could define the frequency at which the application would evaluate stocks in a given market and identify the top ranked stocks based on the user’s ranking system.Responsibilities:● Designed the model in UML and used Enterprise Architect to auto-generate the skeletal source code in Java.● Created and evaluated various algorithms for evaluating stocks based on a user defined ranking system.● Designed and developed a relational database in MySQL to persist the object model as well as user and stock data.● Implemented test cases in JUnit to ensure the validity of the application.● Defined test data that was used to verify the functionality of the application.

This project created the company’s initial presence on the web, which included e-commerce functionality commonly found on other retail sites, such as Amazon.com.Responsibilities:● Designed various wireframe site mock-ups in Photoshop to gain customer approval on the look and feel of the site.● Defined the necessary pages and outlined their functionality to provide e-commerce functionality.● Implemented the site pages in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and ensured that the site was cross-browser compatible.● Integrated the web site with PayPal to accept credit card as well as other forms of payment.
