- Made an internship at the School of Engineering Sciences and Technology in the field of nanomaterials- Synthesized graphene from graphite oxide (GO) using a chemical method and verified number of atom layers (ca. 20) using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy and x-ray diffraction.- Prepared graphene/polyvinyl alcohol (G/PVA) composite materials with various concentrations of graphene to improve the electromagnetic interference shielding capabilities of polyvinyl alcohol.- Concluded that with 10% graphene in the G/PVA composite, the shielding effectiveness is best as only 4% of 8.2GHz waves (X-band) pass the material, compared to 90% with plain PVA.
